At the time dsw fc began sniffing around Preston in the autumn of 2005, Craig Richardson was regarded as one of the hottest prospects, despite the fact that his form had dipped a bit towards the end of the 2005/06 season. Perhaps he realised that his departure for pastures new was imminent...

Despite the fact that he was sadly found lacking for pace in training his all-round contribution to the game and reading of situations is exceptional.  He needed to move on to gain further experience.

The extent of his rumoured knee injury is perhaps why only Fred FC emerged as rivals for his signature and it appeared to cause a major hiccup in Richardson’s transfer to dsw fc, with dsw fc stalling, asking for more scans, sending the lad back to the specialist, and eventually negotiating a reduced down-payment of £2.5, with another £3 contingent on appearances.

He has been handed the much coveted No 20 shirt and with Watts, Schofield and Herlihy all looking for excuses not to play, there will be no competition for places.
