Arriving at dsw fc at the end
of April 2005 in a deal under £2M, Neil James was one of dsw
fc
last minute signings and part of their last-ditch efforts to
improve performances on the field following the disastrous
MSIF pre-season tournament.
Originally received with derision
as a symbol of both dsw fc's desperation and the team's
financial crisis, Neil soon won the team over with some
solid displays in the midfield. A tough-tackling, no frills
player, he sensationally scored within five minutes of
making his debut.
Neil
travelled with the Irish squad to the 2002 World Cup in
Korea Japan and, although they advanced to the second phase
of the competition, Neil nearly got on the team coach to one
of the group matches.
