On
a bitterly cold night at Broomfields the dsw fc team
but a brave face on it and went into battle against
newcomers Dalai Llama. The match opened briskly with
both teams weighing each other up before showing
each other what they were really capable of. Ten
minutes in dsw fc began to gain in confidence,
showing Dalai Llama how well they could give the
ball away at the back!!. By half time and after some
excellent movement by Dalai Llamas dsw fc were two
nil down and feeling sorry for themselves. Without
an on fire Paul in nets it would have been much
worse !!
Every game is a game of two halves and this one was
no exception……..and it was just as cold as the
first. Commitment is what dsw fc have built their
formidable reputation on and the crowd were quick to
note that Doddy was clearly coming down with man flu
and yet he was still there playing like a rotund
Mauricio Pellegrino giving the ball away with flair
at the back. Awesome stuff.
The
rest of dsw fc began the fightback playing better
football and becoming more organized. Just as it
looked like they were going to hit the back of the
net a lapse of concentration saw Dalai Llama break
at make it 3-0. There was nothing Paul could have
done. David, James, Adam, Neil and Bob all went
close but it looked like it was not dsw fc’s night.
However in the dying minutes of the game David
pounced on a loose ball , following pressure from
James, and David ‘slammed in the lamb’. It was 3-1.
dsw fc had lost but with their pride intact and
there was even talk of Doddy being up for an Ester
Rantzen bravery award………
