Straight after their 6 -1
drubbing of Misfits dsw fc played Division A Fred FC in
a hastily arranged fixture. So hastily arranged that
David Dodd and Neil James had already left the car park
on their way home before kick off.
The previous week had seen
Fred FC give dsw fc a 3-0 spanking in only 10 minutes in
a cup tie - but whereas that game was one sided this was
very even. dsw fc started hesitantly with Paul Richards
tested frequently in the opening minutes using all parts
of his anatomy to keep the ball out. dsw fc soon settled
and the game became even Fred FC managed to hit the goal
frame but generally from distance. dsw fc threatened on
the counter attack with Adam Dow's pace proving to be a
real problem for Fred FC.
Mark, Bob and Andy proved
to very solid at the back with good close marking and
excellent distribution of the ball aided by James Dow
running and harrying in midfield. the game looked set
for a stalemate, until the last minute when Mark Watts
put another through ball to sole striker Adam Dow.
Despite being closely marked Adam turned and nut megged
his defender and crashed his shot towards goal -
unfortunately it crashed against the cross bar rebounded
on the line and was cleared by the goalkeeper.
A great confidence builder
for dsw fc following an excellent, but comfortable
opening victory against Inter Misfits.
