dsw
fc had a strong turn out with eight players despite part
of the squad being in La Manga for the 24 hour winter
training camp.
dsw
fc put their youngest and fittest six straight into the
fray, meaning Bob Williams and Wattsy watched from the
sidelines. The first ten minutes were reasonably even
but with Fred looking the more likely scorers. Sure
enough a breakaway left Neil James alone at the back and
a sharp ball to Fred’s left wing resulted in a finish
into the top of Paul Richards' net.
Fred
continued to press although dsw fc created a couple of
good opportunities and could have sneaked an equalizer.
Caught on the break again dsw fc went 2-0 down after
twelve minutes. It was time for the old boys, things
must be bad!!
The
rest of the first half was even with dsw fc having
marginally the better of the play but no real sign of
getting a goal back. Half time came at 2-0 down.
Fred
continued to pass and move well stretching the dsw fc
defense particularly with some well struck shots from
midfield. Paul Richards was up to the task producing a
series of good saves until one long ranger bounced
straight in front of his dive and managed to sneak
through the outstretched gloves. 3-0 and the game looked
over.
dsw
fc hinted at a recovery when Neil James made the most of
a pass from Wattsy turning his man, beating another for
pace and finishing into the bottom left corner a quality
goal and 3-1.
The
recovery was short lived as Fred continued to dominate
midfield and the best struck long ranger of the game
whistled into the top corner of Paul’s net, 4-1.
You
could now sense Fred felt comfortable as they brought
their keeper out to play upfront, this allowed dsw fc to
get some degree of control and have the better chances
for the last five minutes including a Dave Dodd strike
against the angle (which had followed a few DD strikes
against Fred’s shins). The game ended 4-1 and a
comfortable win for Fred against a dsw fc team that
showed plenty of effort but never looked likely to get
anything out of the game.
With
other results favouring teams around them, dsw fc
finished the match with relegation confirmed. |
