Whilst all the talk was of
record breaking sunshine, dsw fc set about continuing
their own record breaking against Grappenhall. In the
last game for a while on the familiar Broomfield
pitches, dsw fc ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against
Grappenhall.
In the usual mildly bad
tempered affair dsw fc dominated the early play,
particularly as Grappenhall only started with five
returning to full strength after five minutes. Initial
pressure produced some good saves from the Grappenhall
keeper, this combined with wild finishing from dsw fc
kept the score at 0-0 through most of the first half.
The deadlock was broken by
a specialist corner from Bob Williams that was deflected
past the goalkeeper by an attempted defensive clearance,
Bob claimed the goal but the goals committee is
struggling to established that the ball was heading
towards goal without the right angle deflection.
This gave dsw fc a slim
lead at half time, the first half had also seen the
return from injury, sabbatical and Birkdale Beatle of
Phil Price who showed some neat touches in a controlled
performance.
The second half continued
in the same pattern with sustained dsw fc pressure
producing a number of shots that failed to find the net,
many through decent goal keeping. The second goal came
from Grappenhall conceding a free keep deep in their own
half, good running from Neil James allowed Mark Watts to
find him in space and Neil finished coolly into the
bottom right corner.
The third goal came as
Grappenhall started to come out to try and get a goal,
the resulting space allowed a dsw fc passing move to
reach debutant Neil Hulme who finished well for 3-0. The
only other feature of the game was the usual booking
against Grappenhall, this time it went to Neil Hulme for
renewing the dialogue with the same Grappenhall defender
that has been enjoyed by a number of dsw fc players
before him, that Grappenhall man must pay a lot of
fines!
Neil
Hulme, Pricey, Dave Dodd,
The final score 3-0 leaves dsw fc
