On a dry but chilly night
dsw fc met PTW again with PTW yet to take points off dsw
fc but having threatened to do so on a number of
occasions. This game turned out to be no different.
A bright start by dsw fc
was soon countered by an early goal from PTW who
finished their first break well. dsw fc continued to
create chances with the PTW goalkeeper providing strong
resistance. The first dsw fc substitution saw Adam Dow
enter the fray and score with practically his first
touch of the game, this after good work by Neil James.
dsw fc now settled down
and applied some consistent pressure with Neil James
turning from creator to goal scorer to put dsw fc in the
lead. A further attack leads to the strike of the game
with Mark Watts driving a left footer across the diving
keeper and inside the far upright.
At this point dsw fc
looked comfortable and continued to press for the rest
of the half but some wild shooting kept the score at 3-1
at half time. The second half became more balanced with
some dsw fc legs tiring and PTW starting to take
advantage.
PTW took advantage of a
neatly played through ball from Andy Dodd to reduce the
deficit to one. dsw fc tried to rally but the next goal
looked more likely to come from PTW especially when
James Dow was keen to demonstrate his dribbling skills
close to his own goal, dsw fc escaped and immediately
broke for Adam Dow to place a strong shot into the top
right corner of the PTW net. At 4-2 with only seconds
left PTW heads dropped and David Dodd broke almost from
the kick off to make it 5-2 at the final whistle.
A closer game than the
final score line suggested with PTW unlucky not to pinch
a point.
