Match Summary - DSW given six of the best
by Grappenhall |
DSW were given the
sternest of punishments by Grappenhall receiving six of
the best in their worst ever league defeat.
The DSW team were
forced into a number of changes with many players
unavailable through injury or international commitments
leading to recalls for Richard Harrison , a debut for
latest signing Andy Bate and Bob Williams being dragged
from his sick bed for goalkeeping duties.
DSW started as they
meant to go on, simply too casual: too casual in effort,
too casual in tackling , too casual in roll-ins.
Substitute goalkeeper
picked up the first Djimi of the evening after only four
minutes when he inexplicably let a shot roll under his
outstretched hand. By half time DSW were four nil down:
the second was slow motion football with the pedestrian
Grappenhall striker walking past the onlookers: Richard
Harrison and Andy Bate before James Dow put in a tackle:
the ball stood locked between the two for some time
before eventually popping up on the other side of James,
the striker slotted the ball home. The third goal was an
exercise in allowing Grappenhall to exchange as many
passes as possible from a corner without any challenges.
The fourth goal was a gift from Mark Watts from a
roll-in , Mark elected to give the ball direct to
Grappenhall who were left in the fortunate position of
being two on one against DSW, 4 -0.
DSW created few
chances a full blooded half volley from 25 yards from
Andy Dodd requiring the most effort from the Grappenhall
keeper in the first half.
The second half was
brighter for DSW: however, the self inflicted damage was
not complete as Mark picked up the second Djimi with a
coolly struck back pass which passed through Bob's hands
and dribbled painfully across the line.
DSW finally scored:
a neat interchange between Adam Dow and Andy Bate left
Adam clear who skilfully lifted the ball over the
advancing keeper. Hoorah! 1 - 5.
The comeback was
short-lived as Grappenhall then added a sixth goal:
their best goal, good build up and a well struck half
volley which crashed into the roof of Bob's net.
DSW were too casual
and too generous - the Manager will have to make
changes.
