Match Summary - DSW sneak one past
Bulgaria |
A good result from DSW in a very
closely contested match with Bulgaria. With the teams
lying 4th and 3rd in the table this should have been
evenly balanced and it was.
The DSW team was selected on the
tried and trusted - if you're available you play.
The match was very even with both
goalkeepers pulling off fine saves to keep their teams
in the game. Bob Williams deputising for Paul Richards
was outstanding saving at full stretch and distributing
the ball excellently. Richard Harrison and Neil James
were commanding at the back with the Bulgaria strikers
being frequently restricted to long range and wild
attempts on Bob's goal.
Adam Dow and David Dodd were a
constant threat: swapping positions, running from deep
and using strength and aggression in both attack and
defence. James Dow linked well between front and back.
All in all DSW played a good
football, tackling and passing well, attacking and
defending as a unit. Whilst DSW were generally more
incisive the game was close and look destined to be that
rare creature "a goalless draw". However in the final
minutes, James rolled the ball in acres of space in
front of the Bulgaria goal, David Dodd was the first to
arrive and he crashed the ball home.
With only a minute remaining DSW
saw out the final seconds and leapfrogged Bulgaria into
third place in the table.
Another excellent team performance
- DSW seem to be entering into some solid form built on
a strong team work ethic. Could promotion be beckoning?
Man of the
Match
An excellent team performance,
reflected in a wide spread of opinion on the man of the
match including some team nominations. But the man of
the match for his clean sheet and excellent distribution
was Bob Williams.
Awards:
Djimi Traore award for defensive
blunders – None, very impressive defending
