Match Summary -
DSW roll on |
Another Tuesday fixture,
another impressive win for DSW whose promotion
aspirations are looking increasingly realistic.
Despite the greater pressure DSW only scored
one goal in the first half: a nicely slotted goal from
David Dodd involving good build play that included Andy
and Neal, but their contribution was overshadowed by the
through ball from Mark "world class".
DSW laboured throughout the rest of
the first half. In a flurry of DSW attacks just before
half-time, the Grappenhall keeper saved well from David,
Neal and James.
DSW started the second half only
one goal ahead. DSW's second goal followed early again
in the second half again after some excellent build up
play involving Schoey and Mark.
And the third goal... brilliant!
David Dodd resisting all calls to shot danced around
three defenders before despatching a lovely
right-footed strike into the net! Grappenhall had
few chances to reply with Richards only forced to rescue
DSW on two separate occasions.
Every time Grappenhall pushed
forward they were robbed by the tenacious defending of
Andy or Schoey or an equally determined midfield of
Mark, Neal and James . DSW frequently broke with purpose
and the rest of the match was DSW stringing passes
together with some shooting practice.
Midway through the second half,
Andy Dodd, coming into the area with purpose after
being involved twice in the build-up, took the ball down
from brother David and lashed it into the net. A
fantastic finish! Pity he was in the area! Free kick to
Grappenhall.
In the last minutes of the game,
Neal, James and Mark combined frequently, overlapping
and outrunning the Grappenhall defence but DSW were only
able to add one more goal through the ever reliable
Neal.
DSW were clearly the
better team tonight. Our first competitive clean sheet.
A very good football performance, but can DSW perform
like this against the better teams?
