After narrowly missing out on
promotion in the league DSW turned their attention to
the cup…or at least some of them did !! Due to a
combination of holidays and injuries (and in the case of
one individual an inability to organize his diary) DSW
had to face a minimum of 3 ten minute matches within an
hour with only 5 men. Those who turned up put on a brave
face...
DSW 0 - PSV Hangover 1
This was a closely fought match with
both sides only having 5 men for the first 7 minutes. It
looked certain remain a stalemate until the referee
intervened and allowed PSV’s 6th man to enter
the field of play behind the DSW defence and in a white
shirt. PSV played a simple long ball over the DSW
defence to their newly introduced player and it was 0-1
and game over. DSW were not happy………
DSW 2 – Fred FC 0
Strength of character has been a key
factor in DSW’s success this season and this was clearly
in evidence again against Fred FC. Despite only having 5
players a combination of quick passing, flare and
Stuart’s pace made this a relatively straight forward
victory. The first goal came from Neil dummying a pass
from Bob to open up Stuart with a one on one with the
goalie which he neatly converted. The second came from a
series of quick passing resulting in Neil slotting home
from just outside the box. DSW were knackered…
DSW 0 – Nomads 3
A tired looking DSW stepped on the
field to face the div 1 runners-up and whilst Paul did
everything he could to keep us from going down it was a
thankless task. Nomads were too fit, too organized and
to good for DSW on the day. At the end of the match DSW,
although glad for the rest, were left thinking what
could have been if we had had a full squad. DSW were
looking forward to their beds…
