Price and Dodd were both declared unfit and started the
game anyway against the hosts in a DSW line-up that
included the ageing Dow on his old stomping ground.
DSW survived early pressure from MSIF, who had a
succession of shots in the first 10 minutes, with Rookie
initially doing well in goal for DSW.
Rookie was a late replacement for Rooney, who having
missed the team bus, was driving ferociously across
Liverpool.
Dan Jackson was the main threat to DSW regularly
creating pandemonium in the DSW defence. MSIF were soon
three goals to the good.
Herlihy had several runs at the MSIF defence to relieve
the pressure but MSIF had the measure of him.
Rooney eventually made it to the ground and joined the
team replacing the shell-shocked Rookie.
Throwing caution to the wind and venturing into MSIF’s
half
James Dow won a free-kick 5 yards out. Dow and Price
then combined well with a quickly taken free kick and
Price forced home a beautiful goal.
Only good saves prevented Herlihy from adding to the DSW
goal tally. DSW started to play well but DSW’s improved
possession failed to produce any other results. |
