Match Summary - DSW freeze against Nuts |
On a night where temperatures were
comparable to the Antarctic, DSW’s usually fluid passing
movements froze solid.
Brazil went 2-0 up in quick
succession as runs from deep broke through some
statuesque defending. DSW’s ball watching was of the
highest level. David Dodd tried his hardest to redeem
our team’s pride by lashing in a piledriver. However,
our optimism was short lived as Brazil regained their
two-goal cushion at the half after DSW resorted to
playing musical statues again.
After some constructive criticism
at the turn around, DSW started the second half in
better fashion, trying to string at least three passes
together. As the game progressed, DSW resorted to long
ball tactics to try to break down the Brazil defence,
but this was meat and drink to their burly centre half.
Paul tried his best to keep out the marauding forwards
but to no avail – another goal. David quickly replied,
but as our formation soon turned into ‘Richard at the
back, everyone else up front’, another two goals were
conceded on the break. David gave the team something to
cheer, with another goal on the final whistle. 6 –3
final score.
Question marks over fitness were
raised at the inquest at the end of the game, as was the
statement ‘I remember why I took up basketball’ by one
anonymous player. A reminder to all next week – bring
your deep heat spray and your thermals.
