Match Summary
-
DSW suffer in the Dark |
They don't seem to
like floodlights following last week's record league
defeat to Brazil Nuts, DSW slumped to their first ever
back to back league defeats against a robust PSFC team.
DSW were unusually
slow to get into this game and fell behind in the
opening fdive minutes following the first Djimi: Mark
Watts seemed to tread on the ball, the ball squirted
behind him leaving the PSFC striker free one on one: 1 -
0 to PSFC.
Mark's Djimi was
followed five minutes later by James Dow's ineffectual
back header which landed short of the goalkeeping area
leaving Paul Richards facing his second one on one of
the evening: 2 - 0 to PSFC.
DSW actually
continued to create chances with Neal James and David
Dodd combining well with Adam Dow and Frank Herlihy.
Adam hit the post, pushed a shot wide and then buried a
cross from David,: 2 - 1.
DSW kept up the
pressure and on the stroke of half time the referee gave
DSW a penalty when the PSFC keeper grabbed a ball
outside the box to prevent Adam from scoring. David
stepped up to take the penalty but the keeper saved. 2
-1 at half time.
The second half
seemed to be punctuated by stoppages for injury and lazy
ball boys. Midway through the second half, Neal
intercepted a roll-in by PSFC, the ball bounced to Adam
who lashed it in. Unbelievably the referee disallowed
the goal for a foul throw and gave DSW a roll in. Mark
then gave the referee the benefit of his perspective of
the incident. The referee felt it was only fair to give
Mark the benefit of his perspective and the game
stopped.
The game resumed but
was punctuated by more stoppages and one more Djimi:
this time from David Dodd whose casual pass was
intercepted and then coolly despatched into the corner
of Paul's goal.
DSW did actually
create numerous chances for David, Adam, Neal and Frank
but none were converted and after more moans about
time-keeping the referee decided to finish the match
five minutes early.
A frustrating
evening, too much effort focussed on the referee: this
defeat was a combination of defensive errors and a very
low scoring ratio - DSW shot too many blanks.
