Match Summary - DSW going like an Express Train in defeat of Railway

DSW’s answer to Ronaldinho shone through at a sweltering Broomfield Stadium on Tuesday night.  A Stuart Williams hat trick left Railway FC stunned, especially the goalkeeper.

Silky one touch football between most of the DSW team let Stuart in to open the scoring.  DSW dominated for the first 5 minutes of the game making Paul in goal a mere spectator soaking up the last of the sun’s rays.  But as the sun began to sink beneath the horizon, a case of the Djimi’s from Bob (sorry, I couldn’t let that piece of defending go without a mention!) allowed the Railway in on goal.  One all, totally against the run of play.  It seemed Steveo – making his debut – had soaked up too much of the sun and forgot that only the keeper was allowed in the area – PENALTY! Two – one Railway.  Most teams would have buckled under the immense pressure from the Railway, but not the mighty DSW.  Bob made up for his earlier mistake with a rasping shot to make it two all at half time.

As the second half started, DSW took control.  Steveo had regained his sanity and silky touch and started to distribute the ball as we all know he can.  Constant movement up front from Adam and Stuart wreaked havoc in the Railway back line, striking the woodwork on no fewer than three occasions.  Assured defending from Neil and David provided total domination in the second half, allowing Stuart to complete his hat trick. With his final goal Stuart destroyed any chance of the Railway’s goalkeeper from sowing his seed that night with a rasping close range volley that was well saved only for the prolific striker to knock in the rebound.  Neil finished the scoring with a well-taken goal after excellent ball movement turning defence into attack.  Final score 5 –2.

All in all a quality display from a team missing key members who were allegedly on ‘international duty’.  Competition for places should keep things interesting in the DSW camp for the foreseeable future.
