Match Summary -
So Solid..Real Shish Kebab skewered as DSW reach
7th
Heaven !

A solid performance at
Broomfields saw DSW chalk up their second victory of the
campaign and left most commentators talking about the
potential for promotion in their maiden season. On the
basis that DSW only joined the league mid-season this
may well be a pipe dream but you can see that the spirit
is there and this side have got to fancy themselves for
a good cup run towards the end of the season.
The squad for the Real Sheesh Kebab
clash was largely unchanged from last week’s record
breaking victory again Bayern Awin with Wattsy returning
from international duty to replace the Pricey ( a late
call up for the Champions League).
The air of excitement as Wattsy
eventually drew into the car park quickly transferred
itself onto the pitch and after an initial period
frenetic play DSW found their rhythm and began to exert
control on the game with their solid, simple style of
play. Dow the younger worked hard up front causing the
opposing defence no end of problems with his pace and
willingness to shot on sight. Wattsy was like a young
Jan Molby caressing the ball around the pitch with
pin-point accuracy whilst Dow the elder set the cat
amongst the pigeons with his penetrating runs and direct
style of play. DSW peppered the RSK’s goal with shot
after shot the best of which involved the Dodd brothers
combining to release Bob who hit a screamer that was
only denied by the wood work. DSW were eventually
rewarded for their efforts when D. Dodd poked one home
with the most featherlight of touches which the
goalkeeper simply let dribble into the back of the net.
DSW were up and happy to be there.
Sensing things were going well
Doddy decided it was time to try and win this weeks
Djimi Traore award for defensive blunders. With all the
time in the world he tried to thread a long pass to Bob
but only succeeded in passing straight to RSK’s centre
forward leading to a one on one with the keeper. Luckily
for DSW Big Paul was more than up to the challenge
producing a stunning save that was the highlight of yet
another sublime performance. However DSW did not escape
completely unscathed from the incident as it seemed to
distract the team’s concentration and shortly afterwards
RSK were allowed to break with a long ball to their
centre forward who finished in style. It was one all and
DSW were not happy.
The shock seemed to galvanise DSW
who quickly regained composure and began to dominate
once more. The first half ended with Pat Sharp switching
from defence to attack to slot home as only he knows
how…when this boy lets one go everyone simply pauses for
breath….awesome!
The second half saw DSW dominating
from start to finish. Their play was tight, well
organised and above all solid. With only a few minutes
gone and after some excellent attacking play DSW won a
corner which was neatly converted by Doddy. After this
the goals started raining in with Adam, Bob and Wattsy
all scoring in quick succession. DSW were coasting. It
was 6-1.
As in the first half Doddy again
decided it was time to try and win this weeks Djimi
Traore award….this time he succeeded. Bob played a
simple back pass to Doddy who, instead of squaring to
Jan Watts, hesitated and was dispossessed by RSK’s
centre forward who went on to neatly lob a diving Big
Paul….DSW were not impressed. It was 6-2.
This was not the ended of it. In
the dying minutes of the game Pat again switched from
defence to attack and combined beautifully with Big Dave
to drill home the goal of the match. It was 7-2….game
over.
